My Favourite Lore Update.
There's a Youtube video that I haven't clicked on that keeps popping up in my feed. Whenever I open the browser and get something ready for a gaming/developer session, putting together pictures, thinking up ideas, planning where my stories will go, and gaming on my Switch I see a video allegedly talking about an annoying trope in amateur horror writing with the phrase "Make It Make Sense," in the thumbnail. I haven't watched the video, but that sentence keeps popping up in my head: "Make it make sense."
If you are unfamiliar, the trope was popularised in season 2 of Loki, a Disney+ series, and has become something of a meme. The scene is meant to lampshade the plot holes in the series in a similar manner to the main plot of To Boldly Flee. Isn't it funny how the most well-written and popular MCU shows on Disney+ can be compared to a production by The Nostalgia Critic and his gang?
Now, I don't know how much that video continuously popping up influenced this update because I was considering this before I even saw the video being recommended to me, but I decided to explain some things, such as revealing a twist involving Candle that I had planned out from the beginning, some explanations for the lore of Cheese The Vampire, as well as the lore surrounding the school itself, though I did not go into the full-scale of what the school actually is, I did create some cool and inventive visuals in this visual novel that hints at the big twist that will eventually be revealed.
Though, something that I was thinking about while waiting for this to render and upload is that Chris-Chan is active online, and apparently got into controversy with the Brony community due to him/her apparently wanting the community to accept him/her despite the crimes they committed.
Since this visual novel features a trans character, and a plot heavily involving taboo themes like incest I started to genuinely wonder "Would Chris-Chan actually read this?"
The thing is, I doubt that Chris-Chan would read Pet Foxes 1 or Pet Foxes 2. I feel as though they would try, and they would like parts of the series, but they would absolutely despise other parts of the series. I imagine that a troll might send them pictures of Eterna's transition in the first visual novel, and some pictures of Cheese and Sweet's sex scene in the second, and then Chris-Chan would read it out of curiosity, and end up being one of those people who get really disgusted when they see the gay sex scene early on in Pet Foxes 1 that is 'unskippable'.
How would I react to knowing that Chris-Chan played Pet Foxes? Well, recently I've kinda had to think about that because in my Almost A Kiss update I gave a shout-out to a person on Pornhub, and now I can't enjoy their videos anymore because there's a thought in my mind of "What if this person knows who I am, what I do, and that I gave them a shout-out?"
I feel like having a sense of detachment from celebrities makes it easier to engage with the content they produce, and even the implication of removing that detachment and fully recognising them not as people, but as people who might conceivably interact with you is kinda off-putting, which is a shame.
But, what if Chris played a Pet Foxes visual novel and declared on X that he adored the visual novel? Well, if that happened it probably wouldn't mean much to me because I don't use social media at all except for Discord and, well, this site. Chris-Chan wouldn't go through the effort to interact with me, even if they might give me a shout-out, so any interaction I would get from the exchange would be from the trolls, which wouldn't be good for a schizophrenic, but I imagine I'd probably handle trolling the way I do on AO3, which is to basically reply to troll comments with "No, u," because trolling is actually pretty easy to ignore, actual criticism and personal attacks are not because of the defence mechanisms pretty much anyone with an ego has. It's why Youtubers focus on the 'haters' allegedly sending death threats to their families when they make a mistake and ignore the more hard-hitting criticisms, or more foul targeted personal attacks
Disregarding all of that, I'm really proud of this update story-wise. It's one of my favourite updates from a story perspective, and I really like the sexual scene where the main ladies imagine their new teacher displaying their favourite parts of a lady, and at first I wasn't fond of the Eterna/Icestar mating season scene, but when it was completed I was like "Actually, that's pretty good. I like that."
I hope that my new and old followers will enjoy this update as much as I do, even if one of those people that enjoy this update is Chris-Chan.
With Love.
