The Friends For Justice (Demo)
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux
This is a visual novel that I worked really hard on that is about superheroes that I hope that you enjoy. It is only a demo, but I sincerely hope that you appreciate it. I consider it to be a love letter towards the 2000s-era of superheroes, where a bunch of teenage superheroes would gain their powers from a mysterious accident and live in a tower with everything they could ever want, far away from their parents who would only spoil their fun.
But, before I talk more about the premise of this fun visual novel, I would like to talk about the song that plays during the main menu.
The song that I wrote for the main menu screen of this game is a deeply personal work that emerged as a result of a fairly mundane week. I was a little bit disappointed because I auditioned for a band and I didn’t get to be a part of the group because we had conflicting styles that didn’t mesh well together. They called my keyboard playing “Too robotic,” which is true, but I also kinda felt like an idiot for trying to audition for an actual band instead of just doing my own thing with my computer.
So, I stopped making music for a bit except for a song I was working on with a friend and then, just for fun I started jamming out on my keyboard and came up with a bass melody that I sang a Daniel Johnston-style song over. I ended up making up some random lyrics before I just sang Walking The Cow over the bass line.
So, I turned the bass line I came up with into a full song and I tried to make the whole song sound as robotic as possible out of spite for my playing being described as “Too robotic,” with Kraftwerk-style drums and repetitive keyboard melodies playing throughout.
Then, I had to write lyrics for it which ended up being a little difficult. I came up with a basic idea for some lyrics that were influenced by a fanfiction idea I had that I never did anything with, where a girl who is in love with her own mother and likes watching her sleep so that she can cuddle with her prepares a meal for her laced with sleeping pills.
The original lyrics and premise were kind of crap, so I scrapped them and fell asleep. When I was sleeping I had a dream about Applejack basically fulfilling the premise of my song. Essentially, she has a conversation with Pinkie Pie and Twilight Sparkle about how Princess Celestia is the ideal mother for her specific fetish of watching a mother sleep, since she’ll look the same forever (among other things) and cares about her very much. So, she gets permission from Twilight to do it, and encouragement from Pinkie that her fetish is totally cool.
So, after that dream I woke up and two synchronicities appeared. One was that an MLP scene got recommended to me on Youtube featuring those characters, the other was that I saw a porn comic that was recently released which featured a girl with a similar fetish. It was then that I knew that Arceus herself (yes, Arceus is a very beautiful girl) was telling me to write my song about that premise. Alternatively, I was talking in my sleep and the almighty algorithm heard me.
So, I made the first verse about Applejack collecting apples to give to Mommy Celestia to drug her so that she could watch her sleep. But, as I was writing those lyrics a thought occurred to me.
You see, an observation that was pointed out to me once that has always stuck with me is the assertion that the main difference between kids now and kids in, like, the 1970s is that kids nowadays, or even in the 80s/90s, are basically very expensive pets, while kids back then were basically free labor. I’ve believed for a while now that eventually we’ll have the ability to not only clone children, but we’ll be able to bioengineer perfect children. I believe that when we reach that point, children will be far more like domesticated pets than they are now.
So, with that in mind, my dumb little idea for a song became darker, and I decided that my voice should sound darker and slightly (but only slightly) more panicked as I explore the very real possibility that the mother in my silly little song actually paid to create a daughter that looks like Applejack, sounds like Applejack, looks at her as though she’s Mommy Celestia, and is sexually attracted to her and romantically interested in her.
But, of course, those references are both dated and cringy, which are both things that define my work and which I’ve been told to move away from, so I decided to break from that format with the chorus where I sing about a strange possibility that will likely become a reality thanks to AI. Imagine, if you will, the ability to turn a crappy fanfiction story into a professional-looking animation using AI that is indistinguishable from the real animation. It says a lot about society that one of the first uses of AI to become genuinely popular was poor-quality 3D animated models acting out surreal versions of popular television shows using AI-generated text and AI-voices.
However, I pushed those thoughts out of my head and decided to think about something else, which was how the pursuit of validation and the difficulty in getting validation has led to a number of people choosing to receive it from AI, which is what I based the third verse on as I imagined a sad, lonely person on their birthday chatting with a Bluey AI because they didn’t have any friends that would spend time with them on their birthday.
The final verse in my masterpiece was about the conclusion to the bioengineered Applejack Daughter x Mommy Celestia story, and it involves Applejack smothering her ‘mom’ in her sleep, with the twist being that being suicidal is a common thing in the future and she actually wanted her bioengineered daughter to smother her eventually. Then, bioengineered Applejack is collected and disposed of, and life goes on, except for Mommy Celestia.
The production of the song was meant to be LOUD to appeal to those dimwitted mentally-unstable TikTokers that Youtubers like to mock because their audience loves feeling superior to TikTokers, so an easy way to get people to like you is to say “TikTok is bad and it’s destroying society because it’s making our kids stupider,” which is why every new thing that gets popular with kids and teens gets mocked. It’s the first part of the cycle of an alternative to something popular gaining more and more popularity until it eventually either fades away or becomes the new mainstream, where it ends up getting challenged by a new alternative and the cycle begins again.
Anyways, I compressed the song twice, then I used a limiter and a leveller on it, then I compressed it again so that those stupid TikTokers that probably don’t wash their hands after using the toilet will enjoy it. But, alas, this trick won’t work on the incredibly intelligent Youtubers who will see through my clever compression tricks and be able to understand that my song is crap, and this entire essay is meant to be satirical. Of course, you didn’t need to be told that this word salad is satirical because you’re so smart, and special, and I’m sure that everyone loves you and thinks that you’re great, because you are great, it is I who is the loser.
Now that all of that is out of the way, I’m going to tell you about my superhero story.

nice description bro
I thought it'd be funny. But, like, I'm sure I'll get a lot of hate for it and probably lose some followers.
I've been kinda depressed lately because my birthday is coming up, so I came up with that description of the song I wrote as a way of taking my mind off of my upcoming birthday and the sense of absolute dread that I feel about it.
I am legitimately proud of the writing for the visual novel so far, though, I think it's some of my best writing in at least a few months. But, the visuals aren't my best, honestly, which was why I was kinda like "Eh, let's see if people like what I've made so far, even though there isn't much. I'll even throw in a joke mode to get a chuckle or two."
